This diet, created by Dr. Douglas M. Graham, consists of a dietary intake of: 80% fruits and vegetables, 10% protein and 10% fat.
Some athletic ‘personalities’ adhering to this diet includes include tennis star Martina Navratilova, NBA star Ronnie Grandison and professional bowler Bruce Hamilton as well as Michael Arnstein, a marathon runner who is training towards the London Olympics..
According to Dr. Graham, “ By meeting our needs for fat, without surpassing those needs, we tend to experience optimum digestion, ideal weight management and stabilized blood sugar. Olympic athletes have adopted the diet as it optimizes one’s ability to ‘uptake, transport and deliver oxygen to the cells”.
Fruit plays a predominate role in this diet, however, one can accomplish this with 2-3 large fruit meals during the day and a large salad in the evening. Other vegetables and food like, cabbage, broccoli, fatty fruits, nuts & seeds can make up 8-10 % of the diet as well.
