AVOCADO FRIES
Total Preparation Time: 45-60 minutes
Yield: 2 servings, as a side dish
Ingredients:
1 ripe avocado, sliced in half from the stem end and pitted
1 small handful (3/8ths to 1/4 cup) sunflower seeds
1 small handful (1/2 to 3/4 dozen)Living Nutz Zesty Almond Bliss flavor raw almonds
Directions:
Grind the seeds and nuts, together, in a small spice grinder or mini food processor until they are small bits or even powdery. Turn out onto a flat dish. With a thin blade and a light touch, slice the meat of each half avocado lengthwise into 1/4 inch thick pieces while still in the skin. Using a spoon, carefully separate the sliced avocado flesh from the thick skin and place into the flat dish containing the ground nuts.Using clean hands, separate each length of avocado meat and, one by one, turn and cover each avocado piece with the ground nuts. Work lightly as the seeds will easily stick to the avocado meat and to avoid breaking or crushing the avocado pieces.Place the nut covered pieces, one by one, in a single layer and not touching, onto a dehydrator sheet (which covers the mesh tray) and into your dehydrator. Set the dehydrator to 108 degrees and dehydrate for 40-60 minutes.Dehydration is not an exact science and times can differ according to climate and humidity. You most probably want the resultant “fries” to be crisp on the outside and softer in the middle.
If you do not own a dehydrator, use a baking sheet in your oven, with the oven on it lowest possible setting, and leave the oven door ajar.
This food creation, like all Living Nutz food, is lip smacking good.
